I recently completed Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Organizational Design for Digital Transformation program.
It sharpened one belief I trust: organizational agility is what makes digital transformation work.
Most companies still treat AI like a layer added onto existing structures. New tools. New dashboards. New automation.
But the organizations that win long term are the ones that learn faster, adapt faster, and make decisions faster across the whole system.
That takes more than technology investment.
It means redesigning how leadership, teams, processes, and decisions work together.
After years in global logistics and operational transformation, this program reinforced what I keep seeing in practice:
AI scales the operating system you already have.
If the organization is fragmented, AI accelerates fragmentation.
If the organization is aligned, AI accelerates value creation.
Future advantage will go to organizations that can learn continuously and adapt quickly at scale.
That is where organizational design becomes a strategic capability, not an HR exercise.
